About the role

As a BMD Planner you will experience an interesting mix of pre-contracts and operational project support. You will be involved with determining construction methodologies to produce programs and reports for inclusion in tender submissions and project control updates.

You will be asked to:

  • Provide considered and practical programming advice to BMD tender & project teams, clients and Joint Venture partners.
  • Review tender documents for scope of works, contract requirements, and any other factors which may affect the timing of the project.
  • Interact within a pre-contracts team to offer optimised and understood tender and pre-contract submissions that ensure confidence and positive outcomes for the business unit.
  • Produce programs that meet the needs of the submission documents, with the flexibility to operate within different programming software packages.
  • Produce programs that are fully resourced and costed.
  • Participate in post tender negotiations
  • Work with operational teams to facilitate the kick off and then hand over of a project following a successful tender bid
  • Understand and measure program/project performance based on physical progress and report on milestones, KPI’s and earned value.
  • Understand risks and opportunities within a project and how they are managed through the program.
  • Assist in the analysis and preparation of contractual claims.
  • Assist and mentor other BMD team members in programming principles and facilitate internal training courses.
  • Be aware of new development and products in the programming and planning market and their benefits to BMD.

Skills & Experience

An ideal BMD Planner will bring the following:

  • Proven knowledge of construction and engineering techniques and sequences, with a minimum of (5) years on-site experience.   
  • A well-developed understanding of Contract Management and its application in program preparation, analysis and reporting.
  • Advanced knowledge of programming principles and the skills to adapt those principles across a range of programming software packages.
  • Ability to prioritise commitments, outcomes and deadlines across multiple projects and teams.
  • Well-developed communication skills (oral, written, interpersonal and meetings).
  • A team focus … interact, communicate, share, play.
  • A Bachelor of Civil Engineering is preferred however not essential.
