BMD Group appoints General Manager Corporate Affairs

BMD Group is pleased to announce the appointment of previous employee Katie O’Malley into the position of General Manager Corporate Affairs.

CEO Scott Power stated BMD is delighted to welcome back another past employee into the BMD Group family.

“Katie initially commenced working with us in 2009 and has since gained broader industry experience across engineering design and the built environment in both global and Australian organisations.

“BMD celebrates our unique culture which continues to mark our point of difference, demonstrative in over 122 members within our 20-year club and it being a place where people want to return. As we continue to grow and evolve, Katie will play a vital role in reinforcing our reputation as an Australian owned and community focused industry leader.”

Katie’s appointment strengthens the BMD Group’s commitment to building a diverse workforce and bolstering its commitment to local communities and economies. Since 2017 the company has contributed $176 million to Indigenous spend and invests over $1.5 million annually in community sponsorships and partnerships.

Katie expressed excitement about re-joining the BMD Group.

Background

With a background in design, media and publishing, Katie O’Malley transitioned into the industrial sector and has over a decade of industry experience. Previously Katie was the Group Corporate Affairs Manager at BESIX Watpac and Director Group Marketing and Communications at global engineering consultancy firms Surbana Jurong Group and SMEC Group. She has served as a Director on Australian Contractors Association Board alongside the BESIX Watpac Community Fund and the SMEC Foundation Board.

Katie has a degree in Visual Communication and Design from Victoria University in New Zealand, a Post Graduate Certificate in Marketing from Griffith University, a Diploma of Management and Marketing with the Australian Institute of Management and has completed the Australian Institute of Company Directors Foundation Course.
